To stimulate activity in all three areas, CompTIA has launched the Cybersecurity Advisory Council, a new collective of thought leaders and seasoned cyber executives, all working together to help educate vendors, solution providers, MSPs and other tech companies on the latest best practices and protocols for business.

privacy-confident approach
Organizations still face the challenge of handling data, securing it and developing privacy by design. With the growing value of privacy, stringent data privacy laws have been paralyzing some businesses for the last few years. However, some businesses are already getting more privacy-confident by adopting visible accountability for privacy. With a “privacy by design’ approach, it might be easier to succeed in 2021.
Phil Strazzulla, CEO & Founder of Select Software Reviews, expects that the amount of data getting passed around will shrink down to a minimum. “It’s one thing to pass around packets of PII when it’s all on your secure corporate network, but as that network becomes less physical and more virtual, that data becomes a liability.”
Patrick Walsh, CEO at IronCore Labs, predicts that cloud providers will start offering more advanced data privacy features. “Privacy regulations in California and Europe have made it risky and expensive to hold the personal information of customers without proper protection. As a result, we expect the trend toward stronger data controls for SaaS customers to accelerate with more ‘bring your own key’ and ‘customer-held encryption key’ offerings and wider adoption of end-to-end encryption.”

Cybersecurity focus intensifies
It appears evident that no one will look back at 2020 with any regret or nostalgia. Everyone will have their stories to tell for decades. For local governments 2020 was the year of the “great pivot” towards online services and remote work that transformed government in just a matter of weeks. Having conversed with hundreds of local government tech leaders as well as reviewing the many futuristic tech predictions in recent months, I compiled a composite of what cities and counties can reasonably expect in 2021.
Cybersecurity focus intensifies as the shift to a remote workforce becomes normalized. The growth of ransomware attacks places more pressure for IT to be more proactive and greater investment in IT resources will be required. Localities will have no choice but to place cyber funding as a much higher priority.
Managed services grow as local governments struggle to keep up with cybersecurity, application and storage needs. Many local governments will find that they can better achieve their operational objectives by turning to managed service providers who can leverage their infrastructure amongst many accounts thus offering the potential for better and more secure services, and expectantly in a cost-effective manner.

Get in-depth knowledge about various threats, attacks, vulnerabilities and methodologies and actions taken by an attacker

Monitoring threat patterns and perform a threat analysis
